From Balance to Connection: A Year of Learning to Show Up

After a poor night’s sleep and a cancelled flight, I was reminded how quickly our capacity can shift when we are stretched - and how close a long day can come to tears in an airport. What followed was not a dramatic turnaround, but something quieter: brief conversations, shared laughter, and small moments of connection that gently changed the tone of the day.

This year began with an intention to explore balance. What surprised me was where it showed up - not through adding more self-care, but through connection, novelty, and moments that helped me loosen my grip and laugh. This piece reflects on the year and the role everyday connection can play in self-compassion, connection, and belonging.
